HOW DID YOU START WRITING?
I’ve always been the type who constantly wants to “make something”—even if I don’t necessarily know what that “something” is. It’s taken years to finally realize what it is I enjoy doing: writing. I wish I had an exciting story to share about how I’ve always dreamed of being a writer, but the truth was, it took a lot of trial and error to realize my passion.
Elaborate stories have come to me since I was a child, and although I wanted to share them, I didn’t think becoming an author was possible. When the idea for Within Gold and Glass came to me, I decided to give it a shot. Writing didn’t come naturally, but for the first time, I had come up with something I didn’t want to give up on. Years later, I had a book I could be proud of and decided to become an indie author and publish it myself.
WHY DO YOU WRITE?
The main reason I write is that I simply love storytelling. Not just storytelling but laying out the pieces of the puzzle to create complex plotlines that all fit together in the end.
Writing has also given me a place to voice my opinion on issues in a positive way. For example, my character Margo Grisby in The Jamyria Series is receives a mark of power that has only been gifted to men. Throughout the series, she proves that she is just as, if not, more capable as her male predecessors.
WHEN WILL YOUR NEXT BOOK BE RELEASED?
My goal is to release Beyond the Upturned Sea by the end of the year. Fingers crossed!
